FAQ

Getting started

How does Debrief work?

You add someone and log interactions as they happen — dates, texts, calls, whatever happened. For each entry: what occurred, how it felt, any flags worth naming. Over time, patterns surface.

Do I need to create a password?

No. Debrief uses magic links — you enter your email, we send a sign-in link, you click it and you're in. No password to forget.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. You can track unlimited people for free with full logging. You also get 2 free AI analysis runs to try it out. Ongoing AI analysis, pattern insights, and shareable snapshots require Pro.

Privacy & data

Who can see my logs?

Only you. Every piece of data is locked to your account using Row Level Security — no other user, admin, or third party can query your logs. The only exception is when you explicitly generate a snapshot link to share.

Does Debrief use my data to train AI?

No. Your data is sent to DeepSeek's API only when you explicitly run an analysis, and only to generate that result. We do not use your data for training or share it with any third party.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, completely. Go to Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes everything — your profile, all people, all logs, all analyses. There is no undo.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Account → Export my data. You'll get a JSON file containing all your people and interactions.

Pro plan

What's included in Pro?

Unlimited people to track, AI analysis per person (green flags, red flags, instinct accuracy, reflection prompt), cross-person pattern analysis, and shareable snapshot links.

How do I upgrade?

Go to Account → Upgrade to Pro. Payment is handled by Stripe — we never see your card details.

How do I cancel?

Email hello@debrief.dating and we'll cancel it immediately. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.

Is there a refund policy?

Email us. If there's a genuine issue, we'll sort it out.

Using the app

What's the difference between a flag and a gut feeling?

A gut feeling is your overall read on an interaction — good, neutral, off, or bad. A flag is something specific worth naming — a green flag like "follows through" or a red flag like "hot and cold". Gut feelings are about the whole picture; flags are about specific behaviours.

What does "instinct correct" mean?

After logging a gut feeling, you'll be asked whether it proved right in hindsight. Over time this builds a picture of how accurate your instincts actually are.

What is a snapshot?

A snapshot is a shareable link — a clean, read-only brief you can send to a friend. It's generated by AI from your logs and written in third person so it makes sense to someone reading it cold. No account needed to view it.

Can I add Debrief to my home screen?

Yes. See the install guide for step-by-step instructions for iPhone and Android. It installs like a native app — full screen, no browser chrome.
