Your data, your business.
The people you're seeing, the things you've noticed, the patterns you're starting to recognise — this is some of the most personal data you'll ever log anywhere. Here's exactly where it goes, who can see it, and what we do and don't do with it.
Only you can see your logs
Every piece of data in Debrief is locked to your account at the database level — not just behind a login, but enforced by Row Level Security in the underlying database. That means no other user, no admin, and no third party can query your data. It's not a policy decision we could override even if we wanted to. The only exception is a snapshot you explicitly generate and choose to share.
The AI question
When you run a pattern analysis, your data is sent to DeepSeek's API to generate the result. A few things worth knowing about how that works:
- —Before anything leaves the app, all names are replaced with placeholders. DeepSeek receives anonymised data only; it never processes the real names of anyone in your logs.
- —Analysis only runs when you explicitly trigger it; nothing is sent automatically in the background.
- —Results are cached, so the same data isn't repeatedly sent to generate the same insight.
- —We do not use your data to train any model, and we do not share it with any third party.
Snapshots
Snapshots are the one place your data moves beyond your account — and only because you choose it. You generate the link, you decide who receives it, and the recipient needs no account to view it. A snapshot contains a summary of one person or your overall patterns at the point you generated it. It doesn't expose your raw logs, individual entries, or anything you haven't reviewed first.
What we collect
Your email address (for sign-in) and the content you create in the app: people, interactions, flags, and notes. Basic usage data (page visits, errors) to keep the app working. Nothing else.
Who we share it with
We use Supabase (database and auth), Vercel (hosting), DeepSeek (AI analysis), Stripe (payments), and Resend (email). Each receives only what they need to function. We do not sell your data. Ever.
Deleting your account
Go to Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, all your people, all logs, all analyses. There is no undo, and we don't retain anything after deletion.
Exporting your data
Go to Account → Export my data. You'll get a JSON file: the same format Spotify uses for your listening history and ChatGPT uses for your conversation exports. It's a standard, open format — readable by any text editor, importable into spreadsheet tools like Excel or Google Sheets, and usable by any developer if you ever want to build something with it. It's your data in a form you actually own, not a proprietary file that only works inside this app.
Cookies
One session cookie to keep you signed in. No tracking cookies, no ad pixels.
What we don't do
No ads. No selling your data. No sharing it with third parties. No using it to train AI models. No reading your logs.
The business model is a subscription. That's the whole thing.
